Girls Geek Dinners

One thing us girls love to do is chat. Albeit sometimes leaning a little more towards the gossip side of things, but none the less, talking and networking is a big part of what we do. And when dinner is involved it’s an evening made in heaven!

Girls around the world have been making excuses to meet, eat, drink and skinner for years. From book clubs to wine clubs, girl’s nights out, girl’s nights in – you name it – anytime a group of girls get together with delicious food, fantastic wine and even better company, it’s a recipe for success.

Expand your horizons

So why not throw a little ’geek’ into the mix. Girls today aren’t just about being barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen. We’re tech savvy, movers and shakers, taking the digital world by storm and making our mark in the world.  So when I heard about Girls Geek Dinners I just couldn’t say no.

Little did I know that this was an international organization, where girls around the world meet regularly bringing the geek in all of us together. The Cape Town leg launched last January 2011 and has been going strongly ever since.

Girls just wana have fun

And so I am excited to announce that the next Geek Girl Dinner is taking place at the end of May, check out the deets below:

girls geek dinner cape town

Date and time: Thursday 31st May 2011 | 19h

Venue: The Wild Fig, Liesbeek Avenue, Valkenberg Estate, Mowbray00 for 19h30.

Cost: R165 for a three-course dinner and goodie bag. (Drinks for your own account)

Ladies, you’re in for a real treat as the guest speakers lined up are Shawn Graaff (Online Content and Social Media Manager at MiX Telematics) and Anna Burkey (Creative Scotland ICE Fellow at Design Indaba) both of whom are phenomenal women who could teach us all a thing or two!

There’s no doubt about it – 31 May is the perfect excuse to get out and mingle with like-minded lady folk.  Besides being a fabulous opportunity to indulge in a fantastic meal and perhaps a glass or two too many of wine, it’s also a great networking opportunity, and you never know who you might just meet.

Under5foot will be there, will you?
